The roots of the firm now known as Basham Law Firm go back to 1965, when its founder, Benjamin Basham, began practicing law in East Texas. His local reputation and expertise quickly attracted the attention of a major international firm, the Houston-based Alliance Law Group. In 1973, Benjamin Basham merged his law practice with that of Alliance, and soon thereafter Alliance became part of the growing global law firm Baker & McKenzie. Benjamin stayed on with Baker & McKenzie as counsel, before reexamining his own path 10 years later. He settled back in his hometown, and in 1983, he launched a solo practice on the same courthouse square that held his first office decades earlier. Basham Law Firm was founded in 1983 by Benjamin Basham when he returned to his hometown and established a solo practice on the courthouse square. His local experience and reputation allowed Benjamin to quickly build a notable patient roster. In less than a decade, he needed to expand his services and the geographic reach of his solo practice . He brought several attorneys into its welcome fold, along with a couple of experienced staff members. The practice grew by word-of-mouth, and several clients encouraged Mr. Basham to open other offices in cities near his hometown, where he had significant clientele based on the family’s long-standing connections in the area. When Benjamin’s son, Jimmy Basham, graduated from Baylor Law School in 1993, he joined his father’s firm. Along with two other senior attorneys, Basham Law Firm was formed, incorporating all office locations in 1997. With that realignment, the firm has continued its steady growth path.
