Ger's Shortscale ASAP CAW.
Ger asked me to make him an ASAP CAW with a shorter scale - 24" rather than 25.5". He also wanted a 12 fret body joint and a slotted headstock making it a unique ASAP. You can specify almost anything when you order a hand built guitar. He chose beautiful Irish walnut for the back and sides with a sitka spruce top. The binding is Irish fiddleback sycamore and the bridge is string through. It was my first time using the new Schaller Grand Tune machine heads which I really like. A Highlander pickup takes care of the amplified sound.
It would be hard to tell that this was a shortscale guitar either in sound or playability but the shorter neck suits Ger. A good result. He has recorded a video of him playing the guitar which can be seen on the Workshop Videos
page of the website.
